Subsidies and Support

ActiveAssist

ActiveAssist is a fee subsidy program offered by the City of Brampton, designed to help low-income families and individuals in Brampton participate in Recreation programs. Confidentiality is always maintained. This assistance is given in the form of a credit to your account.

Subsidy credits can be used towards:
  • Most registered programs
  • Drop-in programs
  • Memberships

 *some exclusions apply


  1. Provide proof of residency (eg. utility bill, lease agreement, driver’s license, etc). 
  2. Provide proof of total family net income.
  3. Provide proof of legal responsibility for all dependents listed on the application.

Once your application is received and approved, your account will be activated. Staff will apply the subsidy amount to the primary account holder as a single lump sum payment in the amount of $275 for each eligible member of the family (e.g. An approved family of four (4) would receive $1,100.00).

Once approved, you qualify for the program for 2 years. You will receive an approval confirmation with important information about the program and registration.

Please Note: Expired ActiveAssist subsidy allocation will not be automatically renewed for you. If your ActiveAssist subsidy has expired and you would like to renew, please re-apply using the links in the "Complete an Application" section. A member of our team will connect with you once we have received your completed application. ​

There are three easy ways to apply for ActiveAssist: 

  • Online (must attach required documentation with application) 
  • Pick up or drop off an application form at any Brampton Recreation Centre 
  • By mail to: ActiveAssist Brampton, 2 Wellington St. W., Brampton, ON L6Y 4R2

Any refunds from cancelled or withdrawn programs will be returned to your account as a credit. Any unused credits remaining at the end of your enrolment period cannot be carried over, transferred to another individual family member, or redeemed for cash.

Region of Peel Child Care Subsidy

If you have qualified for Child Care Subsidy by Region of Peel and are ready to register with City of Brampton, please see the steps below:

Child Care Subsidy is a program offered by the Region of Peel that helps qualifying families cover the cost of licensed child care for children 4 to 12 years of age. ​

  2. ​​​​ Personal Information Record (PIR) form
Please Note: COB staff must register the child. Refunds will not be provided to parent who register/pay on their own.

Once our team receives all documents, we will proceed to register your child(ren), and will follow-up with you to notify your status.

Once the City of Brampton receives the registration form, Personal Information Record, and the acknowledgement letter, we will contact you to confirm registration and also provide you with the balance remaining to be paid. Payments can be received by calling 311, or through our online registration system​​. Once the balance is paid, the registration is complete and your spot is reserved.

Jumpstart Individual Chil​d Grants

​The individual Child Grants is a program offered by Canadian Tire Jumpstart that helps qualifying families cover the cost of programs that involve a sport or physical activity.

​Kidsport Ontario

Kidsport Ontario provides grants to children from families facing financial barriers so that they can participate in registered sport programs and experience the lifelong benefits of a season of sport. Approved Kidsport funding will be applied to your Recreation registration account to be used in City of Brampton programs.
