Are you Interested in volunteering with the City of Brampton? There are many ways you can get involved. You become eligible to volunteer with us when you​ ​turn ​14 years old. Depending on the volunteer opportunities that you are interested in, additional qualifications may apply.

Application Process:​

City of Brampton Volunteers are required to obtain and provide the Corporation with a satisfactory Level 2 or Level 3 Police Record Check. Due to forecasted processing time delays for police record checks, we suggest you try to obtain a record check prior to the application opening. If you require an agency letter to support the police record check request, please email ​volunteers@brampton.ca.​

We have different roles at Brampton Animal Services that require volunteers!

If you would like to become a dog walker, cat socializer or small animal socializer, please visit the ​Animal Services Application ​to learn more about this program.

Aquatics Volunteers support recreation staff and participants in aquatic skill development. Applicants must hold one of the following current certifications: Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard, along with a Basic/Intermediate First Aid Certification. ​

Volunteers interested in this opportunity must wear 6 inch high, steel toe, CSA approved boots and be ready to work around animals in a fast-paced environment. 

Volunteer duties may include but are not limited: 
  • Cleaning out the livestock stalls and/or small animal cages  
  • Washing feed tubs and buckets 
  • Perform basic grounds keeping duties, including but not limited to garbage collection and litter picking 
  • Educating the public on how to feed and pet animals 

Clean up parks and neighbourhoods in Brampton.

Dance Volunteers support children as they learn and develop dance skills. Volunteers should be outgoing, enjoy working with children, and have previous dance experience. ​

General Programs Volunteers work with children and youth 4 to 14 years, in a variety of recreation programs. Opportunities may include arts and crafts, sports, music, preschool, and more. Additional specialized opportunities are also available in gymnastics, ninja parkour, S.T.E.A.M., etc. Volunteers must be energetic, creative and enjoy interacting with children and youth.  ​

​Seasonal Camp Volunteers work with children and youth from 4-14 in various camps throughout the year. This includes Winter camp, March Break Camp and Summer Camp.  ​

Senior Programs Volunteers work with adults aged 55+ and can choose from a variety of opportunities, including café, special events, programs, administration, and more.  ​

Skate Volunteers support children as they develop their skating skills in a safe and encouraging environment. Volunteers must have previous skate experience (minimum 5 years of skating – recreationally or competitively) and pass a skate assessment. To successfully pass a skills assessment, volunteers must complete ALL of the following: 

  • Skate backwards while maintaining awareness of surroundings 
  • Complete a two-foot 180° pivot while skating 
  • Perform 360° tight turns 
  • Stop efficiently while skating (forwards and backwards) 
  • Fall down and stand up safely 
  • Forward crossovers ​

Special Events Volunteers support a variety of City events and community initiatives, with responsibilities varying depending on the event. Volunteers must possess excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and adaptability. ​

Performing Arts Customer Experience Ambassadors are volunteers who welcome guests and meet access requirements, with customized services to create memorable experiences. They are passionate about building community, creating inclusive spaces, and fostering relationships with artists and audiences.
