Aquatic Certification FAQ

Brampton Residents age 14 and older are invited to sign up for a swim assessment. Their skills will be evaluated and a discount form for 100% of the cost of the certification course will be provided based on the assessment outcome. Learn more about what to expect a skills assessment here​​.

The program is valid for new certifications only.​

Assessments are scheduled throughout the year. Please check our website for information on the next set of swim assessments. Registration is available three (3) days in advance for Brampton residents.

Yes, aquatic certifications are current for 24 months. To remain current, you will need to complete a recertification course. Individuals will always hold their awards; however, certifications need to be current to work as an aquatic staff. Individuals can progress to the next award with an expired pre-requisite. ​

No, the required manuals and books are not included in the discount. Participants will need to bring the required materials to class. Manuals can be purchased during course registration, or the Brampton Public Library them available as a resource.

No, discount forms must be processed prior to a course completing. No refunds will be given after a course has finished.​

Yes, you will still need to actively participate in 100% of the course. The assessment is only to obtain a discount form for the course.​

No, the courses must be completed in the order requires for pre-requisites. Please refer to this progression chart​​​ for information on the correct order of courses.
