National Public Works Week (NPWW) is an annual week-long celebration of the essential public services rendered by infrastructure, construction, and operations staff. The week of May 21st to 25th provides an important opportunity to recognize and acknowledge the achievements of the Public Works and Engineering division, especially the contributions of front-line essential workers.

This year's National Public Works Week theme is "Advancing Quality of Life for All."

This year’s NPWW celebration kicks off with a flag raising ceremony on Tuesday, May 21 at Ken Whillans Square at 9 am, followed by speed mentoring with Access Employment at Williams Parkway Operations Centre from 11 am to 1 pm.

On Wednesday, May 22 the truck rodeo goes from 8 am to 2 pm at the Williams Parkway Operations Centre. Starting at 9 am, there will be school tours at 9 am at the Williams Parkway Operations Centre.

The annual bus pull challenge, commissioners’ challenge and fund-raising barbecue for the United Way happens on Thursday, May 23 at 10 am. The commissioners challenge starts at 11 am and the barbecue begins at noon.
