Fire Permits and Inspections

Fire Service and Inspection Request​​

  1. Open the Fire Service and Inspection Request Application
  2. ​Complete application, including Letter of Authorization​ and submit
  3. A Fire Prevention Staff member will contact the applicant to process payment.​

​​​​​​​​Fire Code

The Fire Code is a regulation made under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997 consisting of a set of minimum requirements respecting fire safety within and around existing buildings and facilities. The owner is responsible for complying with the Fire Code, except where otherwise specified. The municipal fire department enforces the Fire Code. The regulation may be accessed on e-Laws.

The publication 2015 Fire Code Compendium, which includes the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997, the 2007 Fire Code as amended to January 1, 2015, and the Fire Code Supplement FCS-1, is available for purchase through the Publications Ontario website at Publications Ontario or by phone at 1-800-668-9938.​


Burn Application Details

Burn Permit fees are subject to change and there are no taxes on burn permits.

Please contact our administration office at 905.874.2740, Monday to Friday from 8 am – 4 pm (excluding holidays) or email fire.prevention@brampton.ca

  • Burn Permits are subject to a site inspection and must meet set requirements of the Fire Code in order for the burn permit to be issued.​
  • Burn applications must be received 7 days in advance of the propose​d burn date.
  • The permit will not be issued until 1-2 days before the burn date to ensure National Conditions are favourable for burning.
  • Burn permits will be issued by email to the applicant.
  • Permits are subject to be revoked due if National Weather Conditions are not favourable.
  • Brampton fire has strict conditions that need to be adhered to under the by-law.

F1 Consumer Fireworks or F2 Consumer Fireworks Application Details

  • Fireworks Display Permits (or Pyrotechnics Display Permits) are subject to a site inspection and must meet set requirements of the Fire Code in order for the permit to be issued.
  • Applications must be received 10 days in advance of the event date.
  • The permit will not be issued until a test inspection takes place to ensure compliance with the fire code.
  • Permits are subject to be revoked due if National Weather Conditions are not favourable.

  3. A Fire Prevention Staff member will contact the applicant to process payment.​

The fee is waived if under Building Permit. We require a copy of the Building Permit.

Fire Route application for the designation of Fire Access Routes is required by By-law 93-93, as amended.

Applicants will need to provide the following:

  • A site plan
  • Information regarding disabled persons parking space requirements

The site plan drawing is to indicate the following:

  • Building Outline
  • Fire Access Route
  • Principal Entrances
  • Parking Which Abuts the Fire Route
  • Hydrants
  • Municipal Street and Address
  • Fire Department Connections
  • Fire Route Type and Sign Location (For types of signs, see page on Size and Type of Fire Route Signs Required)

The application will be reviewed and a drawing number will be assigned to the plan.

The now completed official Fire Access Route Plan will be returned to the owner of the property and/or Applicant, so that the installation in conformance with this plan can begin.

Once the fire route index number has been created and assigned to a fire route location, it is placed on the list to be added to the By-Law 93-93 Administrative Update which is presented at the next Committee of Council meeting. This meeting occurs on a monthly basis.
