The Unit is working with the Black community to create opportunities for individuals and groups in Brampton. We are implementing a series of info sessions, capacity building, networking opportunities and events focused on collaborating with people, job recruitment agencies, job preparation, partnering with Black ecosystems to provide support for art ups, Black entrepreneurs and businesses.

Our program is aimed at improving:

  1. Relevant financial education for entrepreneurs.
  2. Working with different government agencies and partners to provide funding opportunities through grants, loans, and other financial incentives.
  3. Creating a supportive legal framework.
  4. Stimulating networking and collaboration.
  5. Encouraging innovation.

We are creating partnerships with financial institutions to improve financial literacy learning and understanding. We are exploring and building partnerships with Black Africans, Black Americans, and Caribbean markets to open new markets for our businesses and entrepreneurs.

The Unit has been developed in response to the City of Brampton desire to take meaningful action to become a more racially equitable city. To help ensure we continue to position us as a unit that cares and is dedicated to positive change for the Black community, we recommend a multi-dimensional approach aimed at engaging members of our team, partners, employees and community.
