He began his tenure following the passing of his father, Chris Gibson, who previously held the position.Throughout his eight terms in office, Gibson represented Wards 1 and 5. He held various leadership roles, including chairing the Community Services, Building and Bylaw, Planning, and Budget Committees. In 2006, he was appointed to the Regional Council.
