​​BRAMPTON, ON — Applications are opening for the 2025 Affiliated Neighbourhood Association Program, following its successful inaugural year last year. The program encourages residents to take action through helping enhance safety, connectedness and a sense of belonging within their communities by creating a neighbourhood association. 

Through this program, Affiliated Neighbourhood Associations will have access to grant support for neighbourhood-led projects and other initiatives. This year, first-time applicants could receive up to $1,500 from the grant, while Neighbourhood Associations that were affiliated in 2024 can apply to renew their affiliation and receive up to $2,000 in funding. 

How to apply

Applications for the 2025 program will be accepted during two intake periods:

• March 1 to March 31, 2025
• June 1 to June 30, 2025
  

Neighbourhood groups who wish to become an Affiliated Neighbourhood Association can apply online by visiting, brampton.ca/communitysafety. For questions or help with applying, email Brampton’s Community Safety and Well-Being Office (CSWO) at CSWO@brampton.ca. ​

About the Affiliated Neighbourhood Association Program 

An Affiliated Neighbourhood Association is a volunteer group of residents from the same neighbourhood who work together to identify ways to improve their community with positive changes. Affiliated Neighbourhood Associations will be connected to a CSWO team member who can provide support and advice.

2024 Program Outcomes

• 38 neighbourhood associations became City affiliated and received approximately $54,000 in grants. 
• 52 neighbourhood projects were completed with participation from more than 6,000 residents. 
• 97 per cent of these associations reported that their projects led to an increased sense of belonging in their communities. 
• One neighbourhood association used their grant funding to plan a community food drive collecting nearly 1,500 pounds of food ​and donating it to Knights Table in Brampton. 
• Another group hosted a neighbourhood barbeque that brought together 100 neighbours of all ages. They shared feedback about the event, reporting it was a chance to connect in a fun and friendly way.

The Neighbourhood Association Guide (available in English, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil, Urdu and Hindi) is a resource designed to empower and connect residents. The guide serves as a tool for residents wanting to make a positive impact in their neighbourhood. In the guide, residents will find tips and tools on how to enhance safety, connectedness, belonging and well-being. It equips residents with essential resources to foster a proactive approach towards neighbourhood development and creating Neighbourhood Action Plans.
