City Hall and some City facilities will be closed on Monday, February 17. All essential and critical services, including Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services, Enforcement and By-law Services, Road Operations and Security Services will continue to operate as usual to support the community.

Chinguacousy Park Family Day Event

Date: Monday, February 17
Time: 12 to 4 pm
Location: Chinguacousy Park, 9050 Bramalea Rd.

Celebrate Family Day at Chinguacousy Park with a day full of winter fun! Glide along the skating trail with music from a live DJ, warm up by the fire pits and enjoy delicious treats from food trucks. Try your hand at curling demos, a scavenger hunt and carnival-style amusements. All activities are weather permitting.

Family Day programming with Brampton Recreation

Generously sponsored by Tim Hortons, Sheridan College and Paradise Developments, the City of Brampton is offering a variety of free drop-in programs including swimming, skating and sports at select recreation centres on February 17:

  • Century Gardens Recreation Centre
  • Chinguacousy Wellness Centre
  • Earnscliffe Recreation Centre
  • Gore Meadows Community Centre
  • Susan Fennell Sportsplex

Outdoor skating

Lace up your skates this Family Day and visit one of the City’s outdoor skating rinks and trails. Reservations are not required and outdoor skating at these locations is free. 

Those using the skating rinks and recreational trails are encouraged to wear a Canadian Standard Association (CSA) certified hockey helmet. Please ensure your skates are sharpened.

Rinks may temporarily close due to weather or maintenance requirements. Please check rink hours and status updates at brampton.ca/outdoorskating​ prior to visiting.

Take a trip down Mount Chinguacousy

Located at Chinguacousy Park, Mount Chinguacousy will be open Family Day for snow tubing from 10 am to 6 pm. If weather and snow conditions permit, grab your winter gear and visit Mount Chinguacousy with your family this Family Day.

Recreational trails and pathways

Take a beautiful winter stroll through our recreational trails this winter. All main recreational trails remain open and maintained, offering the perfect opportunity to embrace the crisp air, stay active and experience the beauty of winter.

Family Day Weekend with Brampton On Stage

Hot! Hot! Hot! (Toronto Symphony Orchestra)
Date: Saturday, February 15
Time: 2 pm
Location: The Rose Brampton, 1 Theatre Ln.

Set sail on a Caribbean adventure with Captain Daniel Bartholmew-Poyser and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Enjoy the rhythms of calypso with vocalists Kimya Hypolite, King Cosmos, Macomere Fifi and steel band Pan Fantasy.

Arrive early for pre-show activities from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm that include:
  • Live steel pan performance by Kenn Lewis
  • Long & McQuade Instrument Discovery Zone
  • Colouring station
  • Specialty snacks and drinks
  • Community information booths

​Brampton Transit

Brampton Transit will be operating on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Monday, February 17. Customer Service counters at the terminals will be closed. The Contact Centre will be available to assist from 9 am to 6 pm at 905.874.2999. Clark and Sandalwood Facilities, including Lost and Found, will also be closed.

Brampton Library

All Brampton Library branches are closed on Monday, February 17. Visit your favourite branch before the holiday to stock up on books, movies, seasonal activity kits, birdwatching kits and more items to enjoy together this Family Day. Everything is free and there are no late fees on overdue materials. Brampton Animal Services

The Brampton Animal Shelter will be closed on Family Day. Animal Control will be on the road throughout the day and will continue to respond to emergency calls after hours.

Service Brampton

Residents can contact Service Brampton for any City of Brampton and Region of Peel inquiries by using the Brampton 311 app (available on the App Store and Google Play), visiting 311brampton.ca​ or by dialing 3-1-1 or 905-874-2000 (outside Brampton). Requests will be responded to in a priority sequence. Service Brampton is available 24/7, with only urgent service requests handled between 12 am and 7 am. Non-urgent requests should be submitted through the app or online at 311brampton.ca.
