BRAMPTON, ON - The parking garage at Brampton City Hall will undergo essential repairs beginning the first week of March, for approximately six months.
The City will repair all four levels of the parking garage, with the work being done in phases to minimize the impact to residents, local businesses, and City staff.
The parking garage has been in service for more than 33 years and repairs are required to keep the garage in good working condition.
The work includes:
• replacing the waterproofing membrane above the garage roof slab
• replacing the asphalt in front of the loading dock and snow melting system for the ramp at the garage entrance
• replacing the entire waterproofing/traffic topping system with new ultramodern materials
• repairing delaminated/deteriorated concrete for columns and walls
• removing corrosion from existing railings in stairwell E and repaint the area
• replacing the current elevator
• replacing existing railings in stairwell F
During the construction period, parking for the public, including accessible parking, businesses and staff will be at limited capacity.
To install the elevator, waterproofing and snow melting system, the City Hall Parking Garage must completely close for eight weeks during the spring/summer. More details on timing will be provided as they become available.
While the repairs are being done, there are four other parking garages where the public can park:
• John Street Parking Garage, 16 John Street
• Market Square Parking Garage, 1 Theatre Lane
• West Tower Parking Garage, 41 George Street
• Nelson Square Parking Garage, 9 Diplock Lane
Parking will remain free at this time. To learn more, view City of Brampton parking page.
