BRAMPTON, ON – Marriage licence applications are now available online,
24/7, in the City of Brampton.
Residents
can access the marriage licence digital portal and apply at any time.
Previously, the City of Brampton only accepted paper-based applications
in-person at City Hall.
Upon
completing the online marriage licence application, the applicant will receive
a reference number which is required when attending City Hall to pick-up the
marriage licence.

Marriage
licences are valid anywhere in Ontario for three months from the date of issue
and are available from most municipalities in the province.
Those
getting married in Ontario must obtain a marriage licence before doing so. A
licence cannot be issued after a ceremony has taken place.
Civil
marriage ceremonies
Civil
marriage ceremonies continue to be conducted at Brampton City Hall every Tuesday
through Friday, during business hours.
In 2022, 1,300 Civil Ceremonies were conducted. Since
2016, staff have conducted over 3,000 ceremonies.
