BRAMPTON, ON (December 16, 2020) – There are a variety of services available for Brampton residents in times of need, and sometimes it may be difficult to know who to call. Whether Bramptonians require municipal, social or emergency assistance, 311, 211 and 9-1-1 are there to help.
311
Residents can contact 311 for simple and direct access to all non-emergency municipal government information, programs and services provided by the City of Brampton and Region of Peel. 311 services include:
- The City’s Plow Tracker and information on snow clearing
- Parking services and mobile licensing
- Property concerns and by-law enforcement, including COVID-19 matters
- Roads and sidewalks
- Animal services
In December, 2019, the City of Brampton launched a new Brampton 311 mobile app and website, 311Brampton.ca, to make it easier to access municipal services and information. With the new website and app, residents are able to reach Service Brampton quickly and easily through their smartphone, online, or by calling 311. Residents can submit and track service requests, explore active service requests in the community and learn more about municipal services.
Customer service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in over 150 languages.
The Brampton 311 app is available for download now on Google Play and the App Store.
211
211 is a free and confidential service that connects individuals and families with a complete range of government, health, community and social services in their communities. Residents can contact 211 for information and referral to:
- Health services and mental health supports
- Income support and financial assistance

- Housing help
- Seniors support services
211 can be accessed by calling 211, online, by text at 21166, by live chat or by email at gethelp@211Ontario.ca
9-1-1
9-1-1 is for emergencies only. It is the emergency telephone number that connects residents with Ambulance, Police or Fire in an emergency situation. Calling 9-1-1 helps residents reach emergency services when they require immediate assistance.
An emergency is any situation when the safety of people or property is at risk and requires immediate assistance. Examples of 9-1-1 emergencies include: a fire, a crime in progress or a medical emergency.
When residents dial 9-1-1, their phone call is answered by a professionally trained Emergency Communicator who will connect them to Ambulance, Police or Fire.
If a resident calls 9-1-1 and cannot speak or understand the communicator, the 9-1-1 telephone system has an Automatic Location Identification System and an Automatic Number Identification System. These tell the Emergency Communicator a caller’s address and telephone number as soon as they make their 9-1-1 call. This feature may not be available with some cell phones, however, processes are currently being put in place so that communicators are able to locate calls from most cell phones with greater accuracy.
