BRAMPTON, ON (February 19, 2025) – On March 8, the City of Brampton will celebrate International Women’s Day honouring the achievements and contributions of women and individuals who identify as women, whose efforts continue to shape Brampton into a thriving and inclusive community.
This year’s theme is Accelerate Action and encourages meaningful steps toward gender equity. Residents are invited to take part by attending events, supporting women-owned businesses and creators, volunteering with community groups or mentoring others.

Celebrate International Women’s Day at The Rose
On Saturday, March 8, join the City of Brampton for an evening of inspiration and celebration. The event will feature a fireside chat with leading women in business, arts, public service and social justice, hosted by Kathleen Douglass and Angel Massey-Singh, co-chairs of the Brampton Women’s Advisory Committee.

City of Brampton’s commitment to gender equity
The City of Brampton remains committed to advancing gender equity through initiatives like the Brampton Women Empowerment Network (WEN) and the Brampton Women’s Advisory Committee.
Established in December 2022, WEN is an employee resource group dedicated to empowering women in leadership, identifying career development and mentorship opportunities, and fostering a safe space for authentic conversations. The network supports women working at the City by:
- Encouraging equality and leadership empowerment
- Identifying career development and mentorship opportunities
- Connecting members to build a professional network
- Hosting events and activities that support gender equity
As part of this commitment, the City has also established the Brampton Women’s Advisory Committee, which includes members of Council and appointed citizens, modeled after examples from Edmonton and Halifax.
