​​BRAMPTON, ON (January 9, 2025) – The City of Brampton is equipping youth with essential career skills and job experience through initiatives designed for growth, leadership and entrepreneurial success. Recognizing that developing a skilled local workforce and fostering entrepreneurship is more important than ever in today’s challenging economic climate, the City is prioritizing the creation of local employment opportunities and supporting youth-focused initiatives to build a resilient and self-sustaining local economy. 

Brampton Recreation summer jobs and free employment ready workshops 

The City is hosting free employment ready workshops to prepare candidates for summer roles this upcoming season. These workshops are a first step in preparing Brampton’s youth to take on meaningful responsibilities and deliver exceptional experiences for the community while ensuring the talent pool is well-qualified to lead summer programs. At each workshop, prospective applicants will work with staff to enhance their resumes and interview skills and get a chance to ask questions about the application process. 

In the coming weeks, the City will begin hiring for various summer positions, including camp leaders, inclusion instructors, outdoor aquatics positions and more. Local youth interested in attending a workshop and applying for a summer job can visit, brampton.ca/rec-jobs.  ​

2025 Summer Company Program for young entrepreneurs 

In partnership with the Ontario government, the Summer Company Program is now accepting applications for the 2025 cohort. This program offers a unique opportunity for Ontario youth between 15 and 29 years old to gain hands-on experience in entrepreneurship by starting and running their own businesses during the summer. This program empowers young people to turn their ideas into reality while making meaningful contributions to the local economy.

Program participants will receive a grant of up to $3,000 to launch and operate a summer business, hands-on coaching and mentoring from business leaders in the community and from designated program providers. All profits generated through business operations go to the youth entrepreneur. 

To participate in the program, all applicants must complete a business plan template as part of their application. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2025.
