BRAMPTON, ON (December 17, 2024) – The City of Brampton has been named a winner of the 2024 Granicus Digital Government Award for operational excellence, recognizing the City’s commitment to delivering innovative, efficient and effective government services.

The award, presented annually by Granicus, honours public sector organizations across North America that have demonstrated transformational achievements in customer experience, service delivery and operational excellence. The City of Brampton stood out in the Local Government category highlighting the success of the Building and Business Portal, which improved the City’s building permitting process by offering a fully digital, seamless experience for residents and businesses.

Launched in July 2024, the Building and Business Portal is an online tool enabling users to apply and pay for building permits, schedule inspections, track application statuses and access property records. This resulted in improved citizen satisfaction and significantly streamlined interactions between applicants, homeowners and City staff.

The Granicus Digital Government Awards celebrate the achievements of government entities that transform how public services are delivered. Winners were selected across seven categories, including Operational Excellence, Service Delivery and Community Engagement. The City of Brampton joins an elite group of government organizations whose accomplishments will be highlighted in a series of webinars hosted by Granicus in early 2025.

As the City continues its journey toward operational excellence, this recognition serves as a milestone in Brampton’s mission to enhance transparency, efficiency and service delivery for our growing community.

The Building and Business Portal was made possible through the exceptional collaboration between the City’s IT and Planning, Building & Growth Management teams, showcasing the power of teamwork in driving innovative and impactful projects.
