BRAMPTON, ON (July 19, 2024) – City of Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown is excited to announce the addition of several rising NHL stars and hockey legends to the lineup for this year’s Hockey Night in Brampton, in support of the William Osler Health System Foundation.
Joining the roster are current NHL stars Dylan Strome, Erik Gudbranson, Cole Perfetti, Liam Foudy, Jack McBain and Travis Barron, alongside Hockey Hall of Famer Chris Chelios and former Brampton Battalion and NHL player Cody Hodgson. Iconic Toronto Maple Leafs legend Daryl Sittler will kick off season three of this important local fundraiser with the puck drop.
Hockey Night in Brampton promises to be an unforgettable evening for hockey fans. Coaches Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmour are back, with Coach Gilmour ready to defend his title as the returning champ. The event features an impressive lineup with previously announced players, including former NHL defenseman and Canadian gold medalist Chris Pronger, as well as stars from the Women’s Canadian National Team, Tessa Bonhomme and Renata Fast.
Last year, the event raised $1,000,000 for the Osler Foundation and $100,000 for the John Tavares Foundation. This year, the City aims to exceed that number to further support the redevelopment of Brampton’s second Hospital. As one of the busiest community hospital systems in Canada, Osler plays a vital role in our community’s health and well-being. The City of Brampton is committed to enhancing local healthcare services through initiatives like Hockey Night in Brampton, ensuring residents have access to specialized care close to home.

Player Profiles
Dylan Strome
Drafted third overall by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2015 NHL Draft, began his NHL career with the Coyotes before being traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in November 2018. He excelled with the Blackhawks, recording 51 points (17 goals, 34 assists) in 58 games during his first season. Over the next few seasons, he continued to contribute despite injuries, amassing 38 points in 2019-20 and 17 points in the shortened 2020-21 season. In 2022, Strome signed with the Washington Capitals, aiming to take on a more prominent role. Known for his playmaking skills and vision, Strome's career highlights include his impressive debut season with Chicago and his consistent offensive contributions.
Erik Gudbranson
Drafted third overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2010 NHL Draft, is a physical defenseman known for his toughness and leadership. Over his career, Gudbranson has played for multiple teams, including the Panthers, Vancouver Canucks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, Ottawa Senators, Nashville Predators, and Calgary Flames. His career highlights include being named an alternate captain for the Panthers and reaching the Stanley Cup Playoffs with the Penguins and Flames. Gudbranson's contributions extend beyond his defensive play, providing veteran presence and stability to each team's blue line.
Cole Perfetti
Drafted 10th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2020 NHL Draft, is a talented forward known for his playmaking ability and hockey IQ. Perfetti made his NHL debut with the Jets during the 2021-22 season and quickly showcased his potential. His career highlights include being named to the AHL All-Rookie Team in 2021 while playing for the Manitoba Moose and earning a silver medal with Team Canada at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship. Perfetti's skill and vision make him a key asset for the Jets as he continues to develop his game at the NHL level.
Liam Foudy
Drafted 18th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2018 NHL Draft, is a dynamic forward known for his speed and versatility. Foudy made his NHL debut during the 2019-20 season and quickly made an impact, scoring his first NHL goal in the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs and helping the Blue Jackets reach the second round. He has also excelled internationally, winning a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship. Foudy continues to develop his game with the Blue Jackets, contributing both offensively and defensively as a key player in their lineup.
Jack McBain
Drafted 63rd overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2018 NHL Draft, is a promising forward known for his size and two-way play. After a successful collegiate career at Boston College, where he was a standout player and a Hobey Baker Award nominee, McBain made his NHL debut with the Arizona Coyotes in the 2021-22 season following a trade from the Wild. His career highlights include being named to the Hockey East All-Star team and representing Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics, where he contributed to the team's success. McBain's combination of physicality and skill makes him a valuable player for the Coyotes as he continues to grow in the NHL.
Travis Barron
Drafted 50th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2020 NHL Draft, Travis is a promising forward known for his scoring ability and strong work ethic. Hailing from Brampton, Ontario, Barron made his NHL debut with the Rangers in the 2022-23 season, quickly showcasing his potential by scoring his first NHL goal in his debut game. Prior to joining the NHL, he had a standout junior career, including a significant role with the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL, where he was a top scorer and team leader. Recently, Barron signed a two-year contract with the Utah Hockey Club, where he continues to develop his game, aiming to become a key offensive contributor for the team in the coming years.
Chris Chelios
One of the most durable and accomplished defensemen in NHL history, was drafted 40th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 1981. Over his 26-season career, he played for the Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, and Atlanta Thrashers. Chelios' career highlights include winning three Stanley Cups (one with Montreal in 1986 and two with Detroit in 2002 and 2008), earning three Norris Trophies as the league's best defenseman, and being named to 11 NHL All-Star Games. Known for his longevity and leadership, Chelios also represented the United States in several international tournaments, including the Olympics, further cementing his legacy as one of hockey's all-time greats.
Cody Hodgson
Cody Hodgson, drafted 10th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2008 NHL Draft, was a highly skilled center known for his offensive talent and strong hockey sense. Before his NHL career, Hodgson starred for the Brampton Battalion in the OHL, where he was named the OHL Player of the Year in 2009. His NHL career highlights include earning a spot on the NHL All-Rookie Team in the 2011-12 season with the Canucks and being traded to the Buffalo Sabres in 2012, where he had his best NHL season in 2013-14, scoring 44 points (20 goals, 24 assists).
Darryl Sittler – Puck Drop
An iconic figure in NHL history, was drafted 8th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1970. Known for his scoring prowess and leadership, Sittler's career highlights include his record-setting 10-point game in 1976, the most points in a single NHL game. He was named to the NHL All-Star Game nine times and served as the Maple Leafs' captain from 1975 to 1981. Sittler also played for the Philadelphia Flyers and Detroit Red Wings, finishing his career with over 1,100 points. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1989, Sittler remains celebrated for his contributions to the sport and his remarkable achievements on the ice.
About Hockey Night in Brampton
Launched in 2019 by Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, Hockey Night in Brampton is a charity hockey game proudly supporting community health care programs through the William Osler Health System Foundation (Osler Foundation). In two years, the event has raised over $1.4 million for Osler Foundation with $1 million going towards the new Peel Memorial Hospital and over $400,000 supporting cardiac care.
