Prior to Voting Day: Position training and material review
Voting Day: Monday, October 24 (8 am to 10 pm)
$240 flat-rate payment (includes hours worked on Voting Day, and training and other duties prior to Voting Day)
Reporting to the Location Supervisor, responsible for welcoming voters to the voting location and guiding voters to the appropriate area for processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend mandatory training session and review all training material prior to Voting Day
- Arrive at the voting location by 8 am on Voting Day
- Assist with set-up of the voting location
- Greet and direct voters
- May be stationed at an entrance to ensure access for voters
- Ensure voter has identification and/or voter notice
- Ensure voter is at the correct voting locaiton
- Direct voter to the appropriate area (Deputy Returning Officer table)
- Assist voters in determining if they are on the Voters' List
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace by frequently wiping down common surfaces and supplies
- Assist with other duties as directed by the Location Supervisor
- Assist with the closing of the voting location
Work Requirements:
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
- Must not be:
- A candidate or registrered third party advertiser;
- An immediate family member of a candidate; or,
- Actively working in support of or opposition to a candidate in the Brampton Municipal Election
Selection Criteria:
- Previous experience as an election official is preferred
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact with the public tactfully and courteously
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with conflict
- Good command of the English language (both oral and written)
- Knowledge of additional languages is an asset
