The City of Brampton provides subsidized recording sessions for Brampton creatives with local recording studio,
Night Light Recordings.
Recording sessions will be subsidized at 50% of the standard rate of $450 for a full day recording session for $225.
As applicants are assessed and offered subsidies on a first-come, first-served basis, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible by filling out the
application form linked here.
Applicants will be responded to within five business days.
Criteria
Recording studio services are available to support the advancement of emerging and professional creatives who have a strong connection to the Brampton community. This includes creatives such as musicians, spoken word artists, podcasters, comedians, and voice actors. To qualify, creatives must be over 16 years old and have content ready for recording. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to approval.
What's Included
Creatives selected for a subsidized recording session will receive a full-day studio recording session (eight hours) with professional engineering services, utilizing industry-standard equipment to produce a viable, professional-quality recording.
What's Not Included
House band/studio musicians, backline, rehearsal space, transportation to and from the recording studio, or accommodations will not be provided.
If the creative does not regularly work with their own band and intends to hire studio musicians for the recording session, the artist must ensure that musicians are paid according to the minimum rates as outlined by the
Canadian Federation of Musicians.
Additional Requirements
- Applicants must be available for a meeting with the audio engineering team at Night Light Recordings. This meeting ensures that the creative is a suitable candidate for this opportunity and allows them to address any questions that may arise, ensuring the recording day runs smoothly.
- Payment for the recording session ($225) must be received prior to the session's start date.
- Recording sessions will take place between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with creatives expected to arrive 15 minutes early to ensure consistent start times.
- Participating creatives must agree that any recorded content shall be free from discrimination, harm, bigotry, intolerance, or violence in any form.
In the event of inclement weather preventing the engineering staff from being on-site, Night Light Recordings will promptly reschedule the session or ensure that the applicant receives a refund.
