Your Opportunity

The Brampton Arts Organization (BAO) is recruiting for a Part-Time Contract Fundraising & Grants Associate (July-December) to provide comprehensive support to the BAO's fundraising and grant initiatives and goals. In this position, the right candidate will work closely with the Executive Director, Marketing & Communications Coordinator, and Head of Programming. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement and requires the right person to work three days per week, with one of those three days being on-site for the duration of the contract. This role is hybrid.

Key Responsibilities and Skills

  • Support fundraising strategies for BAO's programs and initiatives by:
    • Identifying and cultivating new corporate sponsors, foundation partners, and individual donors with a focus on corporate partner procurement and report
    • Researching, preparing, and submitting grant applications at the local, provincial, and national levels
    • Preparing written materials, including case statements, tailored proposals/reports, and prospect/donor correspondence
  • Participate in the ongoing resource development process, monitor progress against sponsorship goals, analyze results, and develop forecasts as needed
  • Liaise with other BAO staff to remain current with existing and planned initiatives and priorities to promote opportunities for philanthropic and partnership support
  • Maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, artists, cultural organizations, and institutions across Brampton, ON and beyond
  • Prioritize requests and direct calls and inquiries to the appropriate area for resolution and/or next steps
  • Provide exceptional customer service while adhering to organizational policies, practices, and standards
  • Work with a high sense of confidentiality based on the requirement to access, review, maintain, and distribute sensitive communications, materials, and/or records
  • Participate in project and team meetings to meet project needs and provide administrative support (on-site as needed)
  • Work well within diverse groups in support of project and operational goals and initiatives
  • Demonstrate corporate values

Job Requirements

  • Post-secondary certificate with an emphasis on Fundraising/Development, Arts Administration, or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in fundraising/development/granting; experience in the arts/culture/not-for-profit sectors preferred
  • Knowledge of the municipal, regional, provincial, federal governments, and related legislation an asset
  • Well-developed relationship management skills; the ability to build and maintain strong supporter and stakeholder relationships
  • The ability to work well independently and within diverse groups to contribute to collaborative projects and efforts alongside the BAO team
  • Comfortable with financial documentation and related tools; Google/Microsoft Suite, Hubdoc, Plooto, DocuSign, etc.
  • Exceptional organization skills; detail oriented with the ability to coordinate multiple activities and tasks while managing different priorities and timelines
  • The ability to handle confidential information with a high level of care
