BRAMPTON, ON (April 26, 2021) – With residents paying the highest auto insurance rates in the province, and rates continuing to rise, the City of Brampton is calling on the Provincial Government to expedite the review and reform of auto insurance rates in Ontario.

Today, City Council began a #FairDealForBrampton campaign to advocate a fair deal for Brampton residents for auto insurance. Auto insurance is a major portion of family expenses, and Brampton residents pay rates that are approximately 123 per cent higher than the average Ontario driver.

Brampton drivers continue to see varying auto insurance costs by postal codes across the city, with rates as high as $3,301, which is more than two times the provincial average. Residents can take a stand now and support the City’s #FairDealForBrampton campaign by:
• Signing the online petition on the City of Brampton’s website, addressed to your local Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP), letting them know you're expecting them to be part of the solution for Brampton. The City will collect all the petitions received and submit them to the relevant MPPs.
• Helping spread the word about the campaign #FairDealForBrampton with neighbours, family and friends on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and staying up-to-date on the latest news, key facts and information on the campaign. “Brampton drivers have been paying higher automobile insurance rates than the rest of the province just because of postal codes for far too long. It’s time the Provincial Government followed up on its promise to review and reform automobile insurance rates. It’s time we got a #FairDealForBrampton.”
