BRAMPTON, ON (August 15, 2024) – With just under a week to go until the largest charity hockey game in Canada, City of Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown is excited to announce Ryan Getzlaf will be joining the star-studded lineup for Hockey Night in Brampton 2024.

Ryan Getzlaf, a former captain of the Anaheim Ducks and one of the most respected players in the NHL, brings his leadership, skill and experience to this year’s event. A two-time Olympic gold medalist and Stanley Cup champion, Getzlaf is known for his playmaking ability, strong physical presence and leadership on and off the ice. His participation in Hockey Night in Brampton adds yet another layer of excitement to an already dynamic roster.

Getzlaf played his entire career with the Ducks and is their all-time leader in games played (1,157), assists (737) and points (1,017). He is also the franchise's all-time playoff leader in goals (37), assists (83) and points (120). Getzlaf played a key role in Anaheim winning their first Stanley Cup in 2007.

Getzlaf joins a lineup that includes some of the biggest names in hockey, including Toronto Maple Leafs stars Mitch Marner and Max Domi. Returning coaches Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmour are set to lead the teams once again, with Coach Gilmour eager to defend his title as last year’s champion. The legendary Daryl Sittler will start the night with the ceremonial puck drop, marking the beginning of an exciting third season of this vital fundraiser.

Last year, the event raised $1,000,000 for the Osler Foundation and $100,000 for the John Tavares Foundation. This year, the City aims to exceed that number to further support the development of Brampton’s second hospital. As one of the busiest community hospital systems in Canada, Osler plays a vital role in our community’s health and well-being. The City of Brampton is committed to enhancing local healthcare services through initiatives like Hockey Night in Brampton, ensuring residents have access to specialized care close to home.

The City extends its gratitude to Hockey Night in Brampton’s Presenting Sponsor Panattoni Development Company Canada. We also thank our Changemaker Sponsors Great Gulf, DG Group, Paradise Developments, Capital Power, Holborn Group, Pattison, ARGO, Labourers International Union of North America (LiUNA) and Charger Logistics for their generous support.
