You’re invited to Brampton’s 50th birthday bash!

​​​BRAMPTON, ON – The City of Brampton is celebrating its 50th birthday and residents are invited to come celebrate this milestone and commemorate 50 vibrant years of Brampton since its incorporation as a city in 1974. 

Event details 

Date: Saturday, June 29 
Time: 2 – 10 pm 
Location: Chinguacousy Park 

Discover more about your city by connecting with City departments, enjoy free family-friendly activities and grab a bite to eat from one of our food vendors.  

Hosted by Brampton Arts Walk of Fame inductee and JUNO award-winner Keshia Chanté, enjoy musical performances from local Brampton artists Haviah Mighty, Omega Mighty and Darryn de Souza, along with performances by Brampton Arts Walk of Fame inductee and five-time JUNO award-winner Exco Levi. The evening will conclude with the headlining performance by Brampton Arts Walk of Fame inductee and multi-platinum selling recording artist Johnny Reid.   

The City collaborated with Canada’s Music Incubator Limited (CMI) to commission a special 50th birthday song. Written and performed by Brampton Native Omega Mighty and composed and produced by Darryn DeSouza and Spencer Heaslip (Taabu), the song titled “Celebrate You” will be available on streaming platforms on June 28 and played live at the event on June 29.

Local art lovers and enthusiasts will also have an opportunity to enjoy digital artwork and short films made by 50 local creatives as a part of the City of Brampton and Brampton Arts Organization’s (BAO) PIXEL Chapter: 50 Exhibition. PIXEL is a digital art exhibition that showcases the interdisciplinary talent that lives in Brampton. The exhibition will be available for individuals to enjoy in person at the event on June 29, during select weeks from June to December in downtown Brampton’s Garden Square or by visiting the BAO’s new 3D Virtual Gallery. Residents are encouraged to stop by PAMA’s display showcasing Brampton’s vibrant history and visit Lorne Scots who will have military vehicles on-site that attendee​s can explore, try on military equipment and get special camo face painting. 

City representatives from Parks Maintenance and Forestry, Building Design and Construction, Capital Works, Tourism, Heritage, Brampton Animal Services, By-Law, Cultural Services, Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Recreation, Road Maintenance Operations and Fleet and Brampton Transit and Service Brampton will also be on-site offering free activities for the entire family and giveaways. 

Getting to and from the event 

Due to the large scale of the event and to ensure the safety of residents and event guests, temporary road closures will be in place, which may affect entry and/or exit to certain residences. 

Parking 

Limited on-site parking is available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional parking lots are available at: 

  • Bramalea City Centre 
  • Brampton Civic Centre 
  • Lester B. Pearson Catholic School 
  • St. Jean Brebeuf Catholic School 
  • Hanover Public School 
  • Hilldale Public School 
  • Goldcrest Public School 
  • Chinguacousy Secondary School
