BRAMPTON, ON (January 28, 2022) – During the month of February, the City of Brampton celebrates Black History Month and honours the many contributions and achievements of the Black community in Brampton who, throughout history, have done so much to make Brampton the livable, compassionate and prosperous city it is today. The month of February will be filled with both in-person and online events.

Black History Month Flag Raising

February 1, 12 pm

The Pan-African Flag will be raised to signify the start of the month and remain for the entire month of February.

Black Business Artisan Market – Reveiller Afriq
Bramalea City Centre
February 1 - 28, 10 am – 8 pm

Support local Black-owned businesses, makers and artisans at this two-day in-person market experience, in partnership with Bramalea City Centre. Find the pop-up on the second floor, enter at the Best Buy entrance.

Weekly Performance Series
Tuesday nights, 8 – 10 pm

Enjoy an entertaining online performance series to celebrate Black History every Tuesday night all month long. Performances will be livestreamed from the Rose Theatre stage.

 

Black History Month Experience Box
Returning this year is the popular Experience Box. These limited edition, curated gift boxes feature products and services from local Black-owned businesses. All boxes will include:

Boxes will be delivered to the first 50 people who make a charitable donation of at least $20 to Restoration and Empowerment for Social Transition or (R.E.S.T.), a Black-empowering organization.

Wellness Moments
Join Brampton native and acclaimed yoga instructor Matthew Bonas for weekly wellness moments including couples fitness and yoga. New class available each week.

Black Artists Live Here Digital Exhibition
Garden Square
Presented by ACCIDA

The Arts, Culture and Creative Industry Development Agency (ACCIDA) presents Black Artists Live Here, a PIXEL Digital Screen Exhibition on the 24' LED screen in Garden Square featuring the work of eight local artists, creatives and collectives from February until May 2022.
