Page Banner

On February 6, 2026, City of Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown and Councillors adopted the City's 2026 Budget with a focus on affordability and a fiscally responsible approach to spending while supporting strong, reliable services.

City Council approved a 2026 budget with a 0% increase to the City's portion of the property tax bill, and a 1% levy dedicated to Brampton's second hospital reserve, helping to speed up the completion of the new hospital through contributions to the City's provincially required $125 million municipal commitment to William Osler Health System.

Informed by extensive community input, the 2026 Budget invests in priority areas including public safety, health care, parks and recreation, economic growth, arts and culture and environmental sustainability.

Open Book: Capital Project Mapping and Visualization

As part of the City's commitment to transparency, accountability, and public engagement, a new Capital Project Mapping and Visualization Module is being implemented within the corporate budget system, called Open Book.

This interactive tool enables capital projects to be geographically mapped across the city, providing both internal users and stakeholders with a clearer understanding of where capital investments are being made. This new tool also includes the capability to upload and display before-and-after images, showcasing tangible results of infrastructure improvements and other capital initiatives.

Key benefits of this new module include:

  • Enhanced visualization of capital project distribution and geographic location
  • Improved decision-making support by identifying areas of investment
  • Stronger accountability to Council and residents by showing real-world outcomes of approved funding
  • Public transparency, enabling residents to better understand how capital dollars are being used in their communities
