Loading your PRESTO Card

You can load anywhere from $10-$1000 on your PRESTO card. As you tap to travel on transit, the PRESTO system deducts the fare for your trip from your card’s balance.

Add a weekly or monthly Brampton Transit pass onto your PRESTO card. Just tap each time you travel and the device will verify the pass is active. You can add passes online through your My PRESTO Account or in person at one of our terminals/facilities. You can also load passes for use on neighbouring Service Providers systems. Click here for a list of participating Service Providers.

My PRESTO Account users can take advantage of Autoload which automatically and instantly loads funds to your PRESTO card whenever your balance falls below the minimum balance you set. Using Autoload means you will always have the funds you need to travel.

For example:

  • Jane sets up Autoload so whenever her balance hits $10, her method of payment is charged and $25 is loaded to her card, bringing her new balance to $35.

Set up and manage Autoload online: You can set up and manage Autoload online through your My PRESTO Account by selecting Autoload Settings in the Load menu. Autoload can only be set up online using your credit or debit card. If you would like to set up Autoload using your bank account, please use a paper form.

Set up Autoload by mail: Download an Autoload form from the forms page and mail it to us.

My PRESTO Account users can take advantage of Autorenew which automatically loads a monthly pass every month. You only have to set up Autorenew once and your monthly pass will always be available for the first of the month. If you set up Autorenew in the first 14 days of the month, the current month’s pass will be added to your card and a monthly pass will automatically be added every month. You will be charged for the next month’s pass six days before the end of each month. After that, the next time you tap your card on a PRESTO reader as part of a regular trip your monthly pass will be added to your card.

For example:

  • Jane sets up Autorenew on April 5, she waits up to 24 hours, taps her card and an April monthly pass and her Autorenew contract gets added to her card. On April 24, she gets charged for a May pass, the next time she taps after that the May pass gets added.

If you set up Autorenew in the second half of the month, you will be charged for the next month’s pass six days before the end of the month. The next time you tap your card on a PRESTO reader as part of a regular trip your Autorenew contract will be added to your card.

For example:

  • Joe sets up Autorenew on April 20, he waits up to 24 hours, taps his card and his Autorenew contract gets added to his card. On April 24, he gets charged for a May pass, the next time he taps after that the May pass gets added.

Set up and manage Autorenew online: You can set up and manage Autorenew online through your My PRESTO Account by selecting Autorenew Transit Pass Settings in the Load menu. Autorenew can only be set up online using your credit card. If you would like to set up Autorenew using your bank account (pre-authorized debit), please use a paper form.

Set up Autorenew by mail: Download an Autorenew form from the Forms page, and mail it to PRESTO.

A Saved Payment Method can be used on your My PRESTO Account, and stores your credit or bank account payment information in your PRESTO account so you don’t have to enter your payment information each time you load your card online or by phone.
