The City of Brampton is in the process of creating a new Community Youth Hub at Century Gardens Recreation Centre. In 2023, the City opened its first Youth Hub at Susan Fennell Sportsplex. These Youth Hubs will serve as youth-centric spaces that act as a one-stop shop for services and activities for youth ages 14 to 29.

The 3200 sq. ft. Lawn Bowling Club facility will be demolished to make way for a new 12,500 sq. ft. building that will house the youth hub. The space will feature youth-oriented design and activities, including games and e-sports, creative space, meeting rooms, spaces for organizations to deliver a variety of services to youth, and more. Outdoor amenities include an amphitheatre, community gardens, basketball court and the Atiba Hutchinson soccer court, which is now open.

To make sure the Youth Hubs are created to serve the needs of youth, the City of Brampton launched an extensive consultation with youth and youth service providers to obtain input on how to design and program these spaces. The consultation period has concluded. View the report here.

Renovation FAQs

The Century Gardens Recreation Centre Community Youth Hub is anticipated to open in late 2025.

A Community Youth Hub is a community space designed for youth ages 14 to 29 years old. Community Youth Hubs are safe spaces where youth can access recreational programming, resources and community supports.

The current space at Century Gardens Recreation Centre designated to the Community Youth Hub is the full Lawn Bowling site (building and pitches). The site will be demolished to allow for a new 12,500 square foot youth hub facility to be constructed.

The hub will feature a game room and eSports room, creative space and meeting rooms. Outdoor amenities for the community include an amphitheatre, community gardens, basketball court and soccer court (completed in Spring 2024).

The Century Gardens Recreation Centre and Lawn Bowling Club Community Youth Hub will be 12,500 square feet. The new space will feature youth-oriented design and activities, including games and e-sports, group education and career advice, social services and more.

The dedicated youth space will include a variety of unstructured spaces to allow youth to freely socialize and connect. Other amenities include: breakout rooms, bookable space for youth groups and kitchen facilities.

Youth will be able to access a wide variety of services that support the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of youth in Brampton. The Community Youth Hub will offer opportunities for youth to engage in workshops, special events, drop-in programs and more.

The Century Gardens Recreation Centre Community Youth Hub will be a space dedicated for youth programming, which aligns with the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The development of Community Youth Hubs in Brampton achieves a number of the City of Brampton’s Term of Council Priorities and the City’s 2040 Vision to create a Healthy and Safe City.

Century Gardens Recreation Centre and Lawn Bowling Club was selected as an ideal location for a Community Youth Hub due to the large youth population and several accessible transit options. This project is also part of the City of Brampton’s plan to revitalize recreation centres to better serve the community.
