In August 2022, City Council approved the renaming of Loafer’s Lake Recreation Centre to Paul Palleschi Recreation Centre in honour of former Wards 2 and 6 Councillor Paul Palleschi. Paul Palleschi was an integral member of the Brampton community. He served the residents of Brampton as a Regional Councillor for nearly 30 years. He was seen as a leader while serving on Council and always encouraged Brampton residents to actively participate in the city’s future, and was committed to creating a thriving and sustainable community.
During his tenure as a Regional Councillor, he served as a member of various committees related to emergency communications including the Emergency Services Review Committee and Peel Emergency Medical Services Advisory Committee. He also served as the President of the Peel Living Board of Directors from 1998 to 2014 and continued to advocate for the Peel Housing Corporation and for the housing needs of people in Peel Region.
Paul Palleschi’s legacy lives on in the City of Brampton. He is remembered fondly by his former colleagues and by all of the residents that he met and impacted during his time serving the community.
