In 2023, Brampton City Council passed a motion for staff to work with community groups and stakeholders to review processes and coordination efforts to identify gaps in maintaining a clean city. Our efforts are driven by a passionate team and supported by individuals like you who care deeply about the city we live in.

Litter Reduction Forum

Last fall, we hosted Brampton’s first Litter Reduction Forum, to raise awareness and gain valuable feedback on building and enhancing litter prevention strategies in our community. The forum brought together various stakeholders, including community leaders, businesses, community organizations, conservation authorities, places of worship, government leaders and staff, and served as a platform for insightful discussions, innovative ideas, and collaborative solutions aimed at tackling litter at its root. During this session, participants had the opportunity to provide input on key topics, including the development of the Draft Litter Reduction Charter.

Introducing the Litter Reduction Working Group

As a direct result of the Litter Reduction Forum, the Litter Reduction Working Group was formed, comprising of dedicated volunteers, city and regional staff, community organizations, and businesses. Together, we are spearheading initiatives, implementing strategies, and mobilizing resources to address litter effectively.
