Permit Expiry and Extensions - Frequently Asked Questions

​A permit extension is unlikely to be accepted if a previous extension for that permit has already been granted. ​

​Yes, if you no longer will be proceeding with construction, you can request to revoke your permit. The same application form is used for this process.

In some cases, depending on how far construction is progressing, we may deny your request for revocation. Submit the application form to permit.expediter@brampton.ca. There is no fee to revoke a permit.​

​If you intend to complete construction, yes, you need to request an extension to your permit.

Email the completed application to permit.expediter@brampton.ca​. If approved, an extension fee of $251.89​ will be applicable and the permit will be valid for a maximum of six months after the original date of expiry.​

You would have received a building permit card when your permit was issued. The second page of the building permit card indicates the mandatory inspections required for your permit (Sample​).

​Before you extend the permit, you will need to you to transfer the ownership of the original permit into the new owner’s name. Please complete a Transfer of Ownership Request Form and submit it to building.inquiries@brampton.ca​.  You will receive payment link to process the fee for the transfer of ownership. 

​If your permit is about to expire and work has already started, you need to begin booking inspections.
