2025 Provincial Election

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, Ontario Premier Doug Ford called the Lieutenant Governor to sign the writ for a provincial election. Election day in Ontario is February 27, 2025, following a 29-day campaign period.

Elections Ontario is an independent office of the Legislative Assembly ​of Ontario, responsible for the administration of provincial elections. Residents can vote on or before election day to elect your Member of Provincial Parliament (MPPs). The party that elects the greatest number of members forms the provincial government. The provincial government in Ontario is responsible for the following services:

  • Education
  • Hospitals ​and Health Care
  • Natural Resources
  • Property and Civil Rights
  • Provincial Law and Courts
  • Provincial Parks
  • Provincial Road Maintenance
  • Provincial Taxes

City o​f Brampton Priorities

With rapid population growth, the City of Brampton is now the third-largest city in Ontario, after Toronto and Ottawa. To build a community which is safe, sustainable and successful, City Council has identified four priority areas which require provincial support:​

Riverwalk

Amend Special Policy Area to enable immediate downtown development.

Transit

Fund and advance the LRT Tunnel and BRT.

Health Care

Fast-track the 2nd hospital, complete the Cancer Care Centre, and plan the 3rd hospital.

Support Services

Back the "Cut in Half" campaign to close Peel's funding gap.

Regional Fairness

Support Brampton’s fair representation at Peel Region and oppose dissolution.

Policing

Provide provincial funding to offset Peel policing costs, as done for OPP-served areas.

Education

Fund a 4-year TMU cybersecurity program.

Multi-Sport Stadium

Approve and fund Brampton’s stadium application.
