BRAMPTON, ON – The City of Brampton is inviting residents to the unveiling of the second annual Catchbasin Art Program, “From Streets to Streams.” This unique initiative raises awareness of the underground stormwater system by highlighting catchbasins through art murals.
This year, six artists collaborated with the City to create 12 murals on catchbasins located on streets and in parks throughout Brampton, drawing attention to how stormwater flows from our streets to local waterways.
The unveiling will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 10 am to 1 pm, during the Tiny Forest Community Tree Planting Event hosted by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority at Eastbourne Park, across from Earnscliffe Recreation Centre. This event is part of the Bramalea Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP).
The City will have a booth near the west end of the park where attendees can view the artists’ work, learn about pollution prevention and participate in themed kids' activities. There will also be prizes for participants.
In the weeks leading up to the unveiling, the City will showcase the artists and their murals on the Brampton Grow Green social media channels (
Facebook,
Instagram and
X) as well as on the City’s project
webpage. Residents are encouraged to nominate a catchbasin in their neighbourhood for future mural locations.
