BRAMPTON, ON – This year, the Civic Holiday is on Monday, August 5 and most City of Brampton offices, including City Hall, will be closed in observation of the holiday.
Essential and Critical Services
All essential and critical services, including Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services, By-Law Enforcement, Road Operations and Security Services will continue to operate as usual.
Fireworks Safety
The safety of residents is the City’s top priority. Under the
Fireworks By-law, the use, purchase, discharge, possession, display, sale and offering of fireworks is prohibited, except for at City-led events. Sparklers are permitted.

Brampton.ca. Penalties for failing to comply range from $500 to $1,000 and may reach up to $100,000 if a court summons is issued.
Recently, the City of Brampton announced a plan to hire 38 additional By-law Enforcement Officers and two support positions to respond to service requests. For more information, visit

Brampton Transit
Brampton Transit will be operating on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Monday, August 5. Customer Service counters at the terminals will be closed. The Contact Centre will be available to assist from 7 am to 9 pm at 905.874.2999. Clark and Sandalwood Facilities, including Lost and Found, will be closed on Monday, August 5.
Brampton Parks
All Brampton recreational trails, playgrounds and parks, including off-leash dog parks, remain open on the Civic Holiday long weekend. Physical activity is important for everyone’s health and well-being!

Brampton Recreation
Select City recreation centres will be open with modified hours of operation on the Civic Holiday. A listing of open centres and holiday hours can be viewed

Registered programs such as swimming and skating lessons are not scheduled on the Civic Holiday. Visit
brampton.ca/summerfun for information on a variety of outdoor amenities and programs, including tennis and pickleball courts, splash pads and recreational trails.
Brampton Library
All Brampton Library branches will be closed on Sunday, August 4 and Monday, August 5. Join Brampton Library online at
bramptonlibrary.ca to borrow eBooks and audiobooks, stream television and movies and access a wide range of educational, creative and professional digital learning platforms.

Brampton Animal Services
The Brampton Animal Shelter will be closed on Monday, August 5. Animal Control Officers will be on the road from 8 am to 6:30 pm and will continue to respond to emergency calls outside of these hours.
Brampton On Stage
The Brampton On Stage Box Office, located at The Rose (1 Theatre Lane), will be closed on Monday, August 5. Tickets for shows and events may be purchased online at

Closures
City Hall and all City of Brampton administrative offices will be closed on Monday, August 5, re-opening on Tuesday, August 6.
