BRAMPTON, ON (March 18, 2022) – The City of Brampton continues to reopen with a focus on health and safety, with staff gradually and safely returning to office and City work locations.
Mandatory Mask By-law
The City has amended its Brampton COVID-19 Mandatory Mask By-law to expire on Monday, March 21, 2022. This is in line with the Province of Ontario lifting provincial masking requirements in most settings on the same date.
Masks will continue to be required in select settings such as public transit and indoor terminals, health care settings, long-term care homes and congregate care settings. Residents are asked to respect those who choose to continue to wear masks in settings where they are no longer required.
Under the Mandatory Face Mask By-law, non-medical masks were required in all indoor public spaces to protect the health and safety of the community. It was set to expire on April 1, 2022 prior to the amendment.
Brampton Transit
Masks will continue to be required on all Brampton Transit buses and in Brampton Transit terminals in line with the Province’s regulations. Cleaning and sanitizing remains in effect, and facilities and terminals that have hard surfaces are wiped down and sanitized daily.

Recreation
Starting March 21, individuals entering City recreation centres are no longer required to wear a mask. Those who wish to continue to wear a mask when using recreation facilities are welcome to do so.
Capacity limits and proof of vaccination requirements at recreation centres have been removed in alignment with recent provincial regulations being lifted. Recreation Centres are open for registered and drop-in programming. Pre-registration is not required for visits to recreation centres, however it is recommended that visitors purchase their services online in advance of their visit as all services are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Delegations
Delegations will remain remote for all City meetings until Wednesday, March 30, 2022. Following March 30, in-person delegations will be permitted, with remote participation still available.

COVID-19 Screening
Pre-screening is no longer required to enter City facilities, including Recreation facilities. Residents are encouraged to continue to stay home if they are feeling unwell.
The City thanks residents for doing their part throughout the pandemic by physically distancing, practising good hygiene and wearing masks to help stop the spread. Residents should continue to put the health and safety of the community first by staying home if sick, and getting vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.
