BRAMPTON, ON (September 23, 2021) –
The City of Brampton is committed to providing a healthy and safe working environment for all employees and members of the public.
The City has a legislated obligation under the Reopening Act, and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Following ongoing work and consultation with labour partners, public health and in line with Provincial regulations, the City of Brampton is implementing a COVID-19 Vaccination Administrative Directive, which will come into effect Monday, October 4.
Under this directive, all City of Brampton employees, contractors, consultants, students, and volunteers will be required to share proof of COVID-19 vaccination status by Friday, October 15, 2021. Individuals with exemptions will be accommodated under the Ontario Human Rights Code.
Unvaccinated employees who decide to become vaccinated following the directive coming into effect will be required to disclose their vaccination status by Sunday, November 14, 2021.
As of Monday, November 15, 2021, employees who do not provide proof of vaccination and who do not have an approved COVID-19 vaccination exemption due to an accommodation will be required to complete mandatory learning about COVID-19 vaccination. In addition, all employees who do not provide proof of vaccination will be required to undergo regular COVID-19 testing. Employees must demonstrate a negative COVID-19 result in order to attend the workplace.
As one of the largest employers in the Peel Region, the City of Brampton employs more than 6,000 employees. It is committed to a Healthy and Safe workplace that prioritizes the wellbeing of staff and the community it serves. To help provide further protection against COVID-19, enhanced health measures, including active screening, physical distancing and personal protective equipment will remain in place.
