​BRAMPTON, ON (October 29, 2021) – The City of Brampton will honour Remembrance Day 2021 online and in-person on November 11, alongside the Royal Canadian Legion.

Poppy Campaign Launch
The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Campaign will take place from October 29 to November 11. This year marks the 100-year anniversary of the adoption of the poppy as the symbol of Remembrance in Canada.

A flag raising took place in Ken Whillans Square today to mark the start of the campaign. Funds raised from the campaign directly support Canada's serving and retired veterans and their families, while helping to ensure Canadians never forget the tremendous efforts of those who serve. Donations can be made at locations around Brampton.

Parade and Service of Remembrance

Mayor Brown and members of Council will join the Royal Canadian Legion in a procession to lay a wreath on behalf of the entire City of Brampton. The ceremony will include a March, Roll and Fly past as a salute to veterans. Brampton is one of the few communities, outside of Ottawa, that conducts a March Past, Roll Past, and Fly Past in the same Parade.

Brampton’s Veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice will also be honoured on the City’s Brampton Remembers web page and flags at all City of Brampton facilities will be flown at half-mast.

The event web page will go live on November 11 at 10 am, featuring a live-stream service including the Moment of Silence and Placing of Wreaths. As a tribute to Brampton’s veterans, the City will once again hang banners along Main Street and Queen Street in downtown Brampton.
