BRAMPTON, ON – Brampton Transit has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing transit providers in Canada with an unprecedented 18 per cent increase in ridership in 2017.

Roughly half of this ridership growth occurred along the city’s Züm corridors; Queen Street, Main Street, Steeles Avenue and Bovaird Drive, on both local and Züm routes.

Through customer and staff feedback, Brampton Transit is continually working to improve service. In 2017, approximately 36,000 service hours were introduced to meet the demands of its riders; supporting new residential and economic developments. In addition, Züm services travel outside of Brampton and/or connect to GO Transit and other GTHA transit agencies, such as TTC, York Region/VIVA and MiWay. These connections provide riders with multiple options to travel seamlessly to neighbouring municipalities, enhancing regional connectivity.

Brampton’s young, diverse population and overall population growth is also fuelling high ridership. Approximately 40 people move into Brampton every day, and according to the 2016 Census data released by Statistics Canada, out of a population of 593,000, more than half are under the age of 24, and 52 per cent were born outside of Canada.
