BRAMPTON, ON (September 26, 2024) – The City of Brampton is excited to announce that the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) has recognized the City’s new Official Plan – Brampton Plan – with the prestigious “Plan Ontario Vision Award of Excellence.” The award was presented at the OPPI Adaptation Transformation Conference in Hamilton yesterday evening, marking a significant achievement for the City’s planning and development strategy.
The PlanON Awards celebrate the exceptional work of OPPI members who demonstrate professional excellence and innovation in advancing the planning profession in Ontario. The Plan Ontario Vision Award of Excellence is the highest honour presented by OPPI, recognizing Brampton Plan as a benchmark in visionary urban planning and sustainable development.
About Brampton Plan
Brampton Plan, approved by Peel Regional Council in May 2024, is the City’s official roadmap for managing land use and growth up to 2051. It aligns with the aspirations of the Brampton 2040 Vision, aiming to guide the city’s expansion as it transitions to a major urban centre with over one million residents. Brampton Plan was developed over four years through extensive technical studies and public consultation, incorporating feedback from residents and stakeholders across the city.
