​​​​As one of Canada’s fastest growing cities, Brampton’s transit and transportation infrastructure plays a critical role in building a sustainable community, addressing gridlock, and efficiently moving people and goods. There are many exciting transit projects in the works:​​

​​​​​Two-Way All-Day Go Train Service​

Plans for the Kitchener GO Rail Expansion, by ​Metrolinx, endorses an approach that will bring two-way, all-day levels of GO Rail service to Brampton, Mississauga, Guelph and Kitchener. These plans allow for greater connectivity for ​our businesses on the Innovation Corridor, and provide convenient alternate travel options for our residents.

Downtown Transit Hub

The new Downtown Transit Hub, in conjunction with other downtown projects such as the Centre for Innovation and the Innovation District, will unlock the downtown’s economic growth and support transit-oriented communities. This project is in the planning stages, with a Transit Hub Study to be initiated to determine the optimal configuration and location of the future transit hub.

Hurontario-Main Light Rail Transit (HMLRT)

An update to the current environmental assessment study for light rail transit will include a range of transit opportunities to extend light rail transit from Brampton Gateway Terminal to Brampton GO station in Downtown Brampton, including: the original Hurontario-Main Light Rail Transit approved route; a Main-George One-Way Loop; an underground tunneling option.

Queen Street-Highway 7 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)

Metrolinx, with support from the City of Brampton, Peel Region, and York Region, is leading the project for advancing rapid transit along the Queen Street-Highway 7 corridor. In Downtown Brampton, curbside lanes with lane conversion are among the options being considered.

Downtown Brampton will be the future connection point between GO Regional Express Rail, extension of Hurontario-Main LRT and Rapid Transit along Queen Street. This will help support connectivity within Brampton and beyond.
