The Community Portrait Project began in 2022 at the inaugural launch of the Brampton Arts Organization (BAO). As a local portrait photographer, I was commissioned by BAO to create black-and-white images that capture the rich, diverse and creative spirits of my fellow artists. Each portrait's aesthetic also reflected the season and the environment in which they were taken. This was an enthralling experience; as I engaged and spoke with each subject during their portrait session, I learned more about myself with each exchange. This project has been a transformative experience, both personally and artistically. I hope these portraits continue to serve as a testament to the strength and diversity of Brampton's art scene. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to BAO for their support and collaboration throughout this project, as well as to all the talented artists who generously shared their stories and allowed me to photograph their portraits.
