This mural was designed and painted by Brampton artists as part of an Artist Development Program led by Mural Routes, in collaboration with the City of Brampton. Designed to build capacity and cultivate the next generation of public artists, the training program took place over two weeks, guiding artists through the phases of mural production, from ideation to creation!

Our collective concept for this mural revolves around the idea of transition and transformation. We were interested in the metamorphosis of the space, being next to a transit hub, and the impermanence of the building itself. To reinforce these concepts, we included a transition of day into night, the transformation from leaves into fish, and the inclusion of our unique whimsy, childish wonder, and playfulness as artists. To activate the space and have community involvement, we added a swing that can be engaged with on social media, and the inclusion of bright, pastel colours that hopefully bring light into an otherwise grey space.

Considering the existing Move With Love mural, we wanted to carry a collective synergy through waves of colors and organic motion from the connecting design. In our collaboration, each artist is represented by a specific element: the yellow pig, the peonies, the celestial stars, the fish, the willow tree, the leaves, spiral clouds, and the space flowers. We believe these inclusions demonstrate our community’s ability to collaborate, to blend ideas, and to move with love.
