Johnny Reid profile picture

Like many other Bramptonians, Johnny Reid immigrated to Brampton with his family at a young age. He graduated from Turner Fenton Secondary School, and went on to build his country music career in Nashville, Tennessee.

In 2015, the City of Brampton recognized this incredible Bramptonian by inducting him into the Arts Walk of Fame. His accomplishments were celebrated once again in March 2019 when Reid brought his newest project back to his hometown – his musical My Bonnie Lass, a loveletter to his grandmother set in post-war Scotland. Working with the Sheridan Canadian Music Theatre Project, who has incubated over 24 productions, including Come From Away, Johnny Reid performed his new musical co-written with Matt Murray for the first time in partnership with The Rose theatre.

Reid’s great accomplishments in the music industry and his hometown legacy continues to inspire the next generation of artists. The City of Brampton is honoured to celebrate Johnny Reid through the Arts Walk of Fame.

Born in Scotland in 1974, Reid moved to Canada when he was 13. He graduated from Turner Fenton Secondary School in Brampton, Ontario, in 1992.
