The City of Brampton is in the process of creating two Community Youth Hubs at Century Gardens Recreation Centre and Susan Fennell Sportsplex! These Youth Hubs will serve as youth-centric spaces that act as a one-stop shop for services and activities for youth ages 14 to 29.

To make sure the Youth Hubs are created to serve the needs of youth, the City of Brampton launched an extensive consultation with youth and youth service providers to obtain input on how to design and program these spaces. The consultation period has concluded. View the report here.

Existing space at Susan Fennell Sportsplex (2,850 sq. ft.) has been converted to an open concept collaborative space for youth. The hub features an e-Sports games room, creative space, meeting rooms, and a modern lounge area with built in nooks. This hub provides a variety of services including youth leadership development, health and social services, employment and career services, and more.

The Susan Fennell Sportsplex Community Youth Hub will be 2850 square feet. The new space will feature modern design elements promoting collaboration and unity. This includes an enclosed area with leading-edge electronic sports (E-sports) technology, and a creative space for multi-media arts programming opportunities such as recording/creating music and videos.

Susan Fennell Sportsplex was selected as an ideal location for a Community Youth Hub due to the large youth population and several accessible transit options. This project is also part of the City of Brampton’s plan to revitalize recreation centres to better serve the community.

The Susan Fennell Sportsplex Community Youth Hub will be a space dedicated for youth programming, which aligns with the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The development of Community Youth Hubs in Brampton achieves a number of the City of Brampton’s Term of Council Priorities and the City’s 2040 Vision to create a Healthy and Safe City.

The Susan Fennell Sportsplex Community Youth Hub is anticipated to open in 2023.

The dedicated youth space will include a variety of unstructured spaces to allow youth to freely socialize and connect. Other amenities include: E-sports area, creative space, ideation rooms, and a lounge area.
