Rosalea Park – New Winter Tennis Dome

The City is building public tennis courts specifically for Brampton youth, in response to an increase in demand for youth tennis.

  • 3 new high-quality asphalt acrylic tennis courts
  • A seasonal winter dome to address the challenge of keeping youth active year-round
  • Replacement parking to accommodate the various needs of the residents in the surrounding areas
  • Planting over 30 new trees​

  • May 2024 – Construction of temporary pathway
    • A temporary pathway will be installed to connect the Brampton Tennis Club main entrance to the existing asphalt pathway located at the south of Rosalea Park, allowing users of the Brampton Tennis Club access to the main entrance, while construction is underway.
    • During the construction of the temporary pathway, the existing parking lot w​ill remain open for public use.​
  • May - November 2024 – Construction of Tennis Dome and Parking Lot
    • The construction of the new tennis dome and parking lot will take place at the end of May and continue through to November 2024.
    • ​During this time, the existing parking lot and the western portion of the asphalt pathway in Rosalea Park will not be available for public use. Once the construction has been completed, the new parking lot and new relocated pathway will be open to the public.
  • Fall 2024 – Tree Planting
    • ​​Tree planting will take place fall 2024.​

​A winter tennis dome is being built at Rosalea Park as a new initiative to support Brampton Youth, in response to an increase in demand for youth tennis:

​There are six parking lots in downtown Brampton where you can park for free:

​Construction is expected to start in late spring 2024, with site preparations beginning in May 2024.​

​The construction is anticipated to be completed by the end of fall 2024.​

The tennis dome will be up from late fall to early spring.During the winter months, the dome will be available for court time bookings and focus on youth programming and events.Once the dome isremoved, courts will be available forpublic use, similar to the City’s other tennis courts.  

A variety of affordable, competitive and recreational programs for all ages and abilities will be available, including lessons, leagues, tournaments and court time bookings.​​

​While the facility will focus on youth programming, there will be both court time bookings and programs available for adults and seniors during non-peak hours.​

​The Chinguacousy Park Winter Tennis Membership is not valid at this new facility. For the 2024/2025 winter tennis season, no membership is required to book a court time at Rosalea. However, pre-registration is required for programs and court bookings. 

Tennis memberships and court bookings are not included in the 70+ free membership. This is consistent with the current tennis operations at Chinguacousy Park.

​Registered tennis programs will begin at this facility in January 2025. Registration will open December 9, 2025 with the remainder of winter 2025 recreation programs and can be completed online using the City’s registration platform at www.brampton.ca/registerforprograms. Additional programs will be available through the City’s third-party operator, Premier Racquets Club, and registration can be completed by visiting their website at www.premierracquetclubs.com.  ​

​Premier Racquet Clubs (PRC) is a community based, self-sustaining, winterized year-round tennis facility in Brampton, improving and utilizing the planned municipal-owned tennis facility at Rosalea Park. The facility programming will be led by internationally recognized tennis leader Karl Hale (current Tournament Director of the National Bank Open), and long-time Brampton tennis leader.  Premier Racquet Clubs have two other municipally partnered locations, one in Markham and one in Mississauga. In 2022, PRC was awarded the TPA Excellence Award from the Tennis Professionals Association for their community engagement efforts, including providing scholarships for children from low-income families and partnering with local schools to run after-school programs.​​

The facility is owned by the City of Brampton and will be operated in partnership with Premier Racquet Clubs from September to May annually. 

  • ​Reduced operating costs to the municipality and taxpayers 
  • Operational and technical expertise in tennis programming, including coaches and pros certified through the Tennis Professionals Association and Tennis Canada
  • Expanded recreational and high-performance opportunities for youth interested in tennis, currently not available during the winter in Brampton
  • More availability of tennis court time during the winter months for all ages 
  • Provide opportunities for hosting events that will bring visitors to showcase Brampton talent​

​The City has a number of third-party operators and/or tenants throughout its facilities that offer sport and recreation programming and services to residents. Some examples include minor sports organizations, recreational service providers, childcare providers and the current operator of the CAA Centre.​
