The City of Brampton is spearheading a joint development partnership to transform City Lands. Currently, the area encompasses the CAA Centre (formerly the Powerade Centre) and the Brampton Sports Park.
Located south of the Etobicoke Creek and east of Kennedy Road South, the 45.3 hectare site owned by the City was identified in the
2040 Vision with potential to advance as a regional destination. Redevelopment of the lands aligns with the City's vision of advancing projects to create 'complete communities'.
The lands include a new multi-purpose cricket facility that will act as an anchor for a larger sports and entertainment complex and will be part of the development of a new walkable, transit-oriented, sustainable mixed-use community. The 20,000 spectator seats stadium facility is offered in exchange for the opportunity to develop a portion of the residual lands with a mix of residential, non-residential and other community uses.
A 2019 technical analysis identified the strategic opportunity to transform this large developable precinct from a sports complex into a new urban core with major transit-oriented opportunities for high-density residential, business, leisure and tourism.
