Every February, Brampton celebrates Black History month by hosting festivities and events that honour the legacy of Black Canadians and celebrates the many achievements and contributions of Black Bramptonians who, throughout history, have done so much to make Brampton the livable, compassionate and prosperous city it is today.​​​​​​​​​​

August 1 is Emancipation Day, and August marks Emancipation Month in Brampton. The City of Brampton is committed to celebrating Brampton’s diversity and honouring this important day and month with events and resources throughout August.​​​

Through programming, International Women's Day provides an opportunity to celebrate and raise awareness of the many achievements and contributions of female Bramptonians who, throughout history, have done so much to make Brampton a livable, compassionate and prosperous city it is today.​

In partnership with the Brampton Chinese Business Association, Brampton hosts events and activities for the community to celebrate and enjoy Lunar New Year together.

Every year, the first week in May is dedicated to National Youth Week. In celebration of youth and to encourage active living, the City hosts special programming throughout the week at various recreation centres.​

The City of Brampton recognizes June as Pride Month and is pleased to celebrate and connect with the LGBTTIQQ2SA community at its annual Pride event in Garden Square with live entertainment, local food vendors and more.​

Community Programming

Active Assist is a fee subsidy program offered by the City of Brampton, designed to help low-income families and individuals in Brampton participate in Recreation programs.​

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs focus on giving our youth exposure to activities that stimulate the intellect. These programs range from LEGO robotics, video game designing, hands-on math, science and technology activities. STEM gives youth an opportunity to innovate and explore new ideas, develop problem-solving abilities and gain critical thinking skills. Contact us for details on how to sponsor STEM in Brampton.​​

The City of Brampton is committed to providing recreational experiences to all by providing a wide variety of accessible recreation programs, inclusive camps, and events for kids (as young as 3), teens and adults living with a disability.​​

The City of Brampton, in partnership with the Brampton Library, offers two newcomer bus tours each year and has been running the program since 2011.​ The three-hour tours are part information sessions and part sightseeing excursions, taking residents on a special route to city hall, parks and libraries — making pit stops all along the way. The tour is conducted in multiple languages; English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu​
